Confined Space Training on-site in Adelaide, Gawler, Barossa, Riverland, Murray Bridge, Adelaide Hills, Mildura and regional SA, NSW & VIC. Confined Space training is a vital part of keeping workers safe and ensuring compliance with WHS regulations for employers. For many industries, the need to work in environments not designed for human occupation or a risk of changing atmospheres from unsafe oxygen levels, to threats of engulfment from flooding water or other material is often a regular occurrence. 


These hazardous work tasks can and are performed safely every day, thanks to well thought through and documented safety management plans and procedures. Confined space training will equip you with the skills and knowledge of how to work safely in small places, through identifying hazards using risk assessments, implementing control measures, fulfilling compliance and regulatory requirements through the use and understanding of Permits to Work, Rescue Plans, SWMS, SOP's etc. In addition, the practical skills to correctly select, use and maintain suitable PPE for the task. 

Confined space safety training achieves the competency required to work in a confined space (enclosed or partially enclosed) for the purpose of carrying out work or inspections.  Including skills and knowledge to test the working atmosphere using gas test apparatus to find out if it is safe for the work to take place.  

Course Content

  • Hazard Identification 
  • Understand the permit system 
  • Work in accordance with permits
  • Prepare and complete required documentation
  • Assess Confined Space for entry
  • Prepare for entering the confined space
  • Use safety equipment and PPE
  • Enter, work and exit a confined space
  • Recognise and assess conditions that require testing
  • Take readings, interpret and communicate relevant data
  • Site Clean up

Units of Competency

On successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for:

  • RIIWHS202E Enter and work in confined spaces


An SOA will be issued by Skills Network Australia Ltd within 30 days of completion of the course, provided all USI, fees and charges have been finalised.The units of competency listed above are current on the National Register of VET at the time of publication.

Prerequisites

There are no pre-requisites for this course.

Course Requirements

Foundation skills are the underpinning communication skills required for participation in the workplace, the community and in adult education and training.

Learning – to learn to enter and work in confined spaces

Reading – to read the entry permits, SMWS signage and instructions

Writing – to complete entry permits and documentation such as reports/risk assessments.

Oral communication – to communicate whilst working in the confined space


Delivery Modes

1 day classroom training and assessment.

Training and assessment can be adjusted to account for specific workplace requirements and the existing skills and knowledge of the students.


Locations

Training and assessment may be held at a training facility or on a client’s site. Please contact us for more information


Renewal

The recommended industry standard recommend that refresher training should be carried out every two years. Ask your employer about their currency expectations.

Confined Space Entry:
Our trailer includes a roof access hatch that enables realistic confined space entry exercises, allowing for training in top-entry and restricted-entry procedures. Equipped with a tripod setup, trainees can practice safe entry, exit, and rescue techniques under expert guidance.

Horizontal and Vertical Entry Simulation:
The trailer’s side hatch door replicates tight, horizontal entry scenarios, ideal for confined space practice. We also include specialized confined space rescue winches and other entry equipment for a comprehensive learning experience.

Heights Training Platform:
The roof of our trailer has a dedicated heights platform, simulating access and egress in elevated environments. Stabilizers attached at each corner provide a secure, steady base, minimizing movement during practical exercises.

Comprehensive Equipment Setup:
Our trailer is fully equipped with the latest safety and rescue gear, including:

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for confined spaces and heights
  • Rescue and isolation equipment such as winches, lockout panels, and ‘gotcha’ kits
