This course is nationally recognised and meets requirements to ensure WHS compliance of your staff. With our on-site mobile training facility we bring the training to your door servicing Barossa, Gawler, Murray Bridge, Riverland, Adelaide Hills and more. First Aid training courses provides participants with the required skills and knowledge to recognise emergencies and provide immediate and effective first aid treatment to any person suffering a sudden illness or injury.
The course includes assessing the casualty, accessing emergency services and using resources to provide first aid, such as providing CPR with a defibrillator, administering an autoinjector for anaphylaxis, asthma medication, assist with someone choking, using appropriate immobilisation techniques for envenomation, fractures, dislocations, sprains and strains, managing casualties with non-life-threatening bleeding and shock.
You will learn basic anatomy, physiology and the importance of the chain of survival, written and verbal reporting of incident details, reviewing incidents to improve own skills and response times, and recognise psychological impacts, and seeking help as required.
Course content:
This course applies to all persons who may be required to provide a first aid response in a range of situations, including community and workplace settings.
Important:
• The theory portion of this course is completed online via your phone, tablet or computer.
• During the face-to-face session you will be required to demonstrate all practical requirements of the course, including performing 2 minutes of CPR on a resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.

On successful completion of this course, students will be eligible for a Statement of Attainment (SOA) for:

Prerequisites
There are no pre-requisites for this course.
Course Requirements
Successful completion of this course requires participants to have the physical ability to respond to an emergency situation and provide a first aid response to a casualty. This includes the requirement for all participants to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.
Foundation skills are the underpinning communication skills required for participation in the workplace, the community and in adult education and training.
• Learning – to learn to provide first aid response in an emergency.
• Reading – to administer medication for anaphylaxis or asthma.
• Writing – to complete documentation such as reports/risk assessments.
• Oral communication – to call the ambulance and provide a handover.
• Numeracy – to count the number of compressions and breaths.
• Digital literacy – to access and navigate online learning environments
You will require an internet capable smartphone or tablet to complete online components of the course.
All other training and assessment materials and equipment will be supplied throughout the course. Students should wear comfortable, casual clothing.

Renewal
First aid codes of practice recommend that refresher training in CPR should be carried out annually and first aid qualifications should be renewed every three years. Ask your employer about their currency expectations.
